Obituary

WRAY GEORGE CHICOLA

Wray George Chicola, age 53, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013. He was a native and resident of Alexandria. He is the son of Nick and Olla Rae Chicola.
He was married to Theresa Drerup of twenty years and had three beautiful daughters; Carrie Wray, Celine Marie, and Barbara Colleen. He was also the proud grandfather of Lexie Jules Waters. Wray was incredibly devoted to his family.
Wray worked in the seafood Industry in the early part of his career, specifically as the seafood buyer for Ralph and Kacoos Restaurant. Wray co-founded Robbie G's Restaurant in Alexandria and operated several seafood catering companies. Wray was also a professional long distance drive for several regional and local trucking companies. He was proud of the fact that he had driven through every state in the continental U.S. Family members treasured his gifted storytelling, his contagious laugh, his famous seafood dishes prepared for large family gatherings, and his love of the outdoors. Wray's fishing knowledge and talents were legendary and he brought friends and family members on many fishing excursions. When asked about his passion for fishing Wray always joked by saying "I don't go fishing. I catch fish."
He is greatly missed by his mother Olla Rae Montalbano Chicola, his sister, brothers and their spouses: Barbara "Bobbie" Carey and her husband, Alan P. Carey of Baton Rouge, Ted and Kay Chicola of Baton Rouge, Ronald and Laura Chicola of Ruston, David and Sharon Chicola of Alexandria and Monty Chicola of Alexandria, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nick Chicola; his brother, Craig Chicola; and grandparents, Joseph and Carrie Chicola, and Tony and Agnes Montalbano.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Alexandria. Burial will follow in the Alexandria Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Pallbearers will include: Brian Chicola, Jon Lewis VanMol, John Paul VanMol, Ben VanMol, John Rino, and Max Guillory.
