Obituary

"Your pleasures were simple. Your needs were few. If we were happy, you were too."

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vivian Drouin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, V.G. officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Drouin, age 78 of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Angelo and Essie Perry Baronne, Sr.; and a brother, A.J. Baronne.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Roy Drouin of Bunkie; her children, Roy "Joey" Drouin and wife Tiffany of Marksville, Ann D. Gremillion and husband Paul of Bunkie, Melinda D. Descant and husband Chuck of Bunkie, Troy Drouin of Hessmer, Gregory Drouin and wife Rachel of Houston and Timothy Dupuy and wife Patricia of Zachary; her brother, James Baronne of Mansura; her sister, Rosolyn Rabalais of Ft. Worth; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Drouin was a native of Bunkie where she graduated from Bunkie High School. She excelled in academics as well as athletics.

She was employed with the Avoyelles Parish School System for 25 years.

Vivian loved having her home filled with her children and their friends. The more the merrier.

It was a delight to her to witness her children's accomplishments. Lovingly referred to her by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Meme", she often reminded them to always see the good in everyone. She possessed a quality of making each child feel special in their own way. She will be greatly missed.

Vivian's love of nature led to her passion for flowers, creative in so many areas, she was a child at heart when it came to the holidays. She never missed a detail for decorations, fun activities or designing costumes. She hosted some of the best birthday parties. Being of Italian descent, her "MawMaw's famous meatballs and spaghetti" were like none other. One could have referred to Vivian as "Miss Pinterest" in her day.

Pallbearers will include: Tyler, Tucker and Tanner Drouin, Chas and Connor Descant and James Perry Baronne.

Friends may visit on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
