A Mass of Christian Burial for Stewart Rabalais will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7 2024 at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Laird officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

Mr. Rabalais, a long-time resident of Plaucheville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a wonderful, warm and loving man.  He was an example of what a good man, husband, father, grandfather and friend looks like.  A true and faithful servant.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Victor Joseph, Sr. and Teresa Lacour Rabalais; sister, Ella Mae Rabalais Roy (George); and brothers, Stanley Gene Rabalais, Sr. (Patricia), Jerry Rabalais and Victor Joseph Rabalais, Jr. (Gloria).

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Louise Lemoine Rabalais; his children, Debra R. Duhe (Kenny), Craig Anthony Rabalais, Ericka R. Gaillard (Mark), Robert Stewart Rabalais (Kim), Timothy Andrew Rabalais and Brad Jude Rabalais (Sarah); brother, Willis James Rabalais (Patricia); 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by much loved aunts, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.  A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
