Funeral services for Stephen Hallam will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with Kevin Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in the Big Cane Baptist Cemetery in Big Cane.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Hallam, age 74 of Ville Platte, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at The St. Joseph Hospice in Lafayette.

Mr. Hallam was born in Durban, South Africa, spent his childhood off the coast of Portugal, and his teen years in Brazil. In 1970, Stephen joined the Navy and was stationed on the destroyer USS Lester in the Mediterranean. A proud Veteran and successful journalist who wrote for newspapers and magazines, Stephen shared the adventure with the love of his life, Linda.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sanders Hallam; and his parents, Malcolm Perry and Marjorie Whiting Hallam.

Survivors include his sons; Dallas Hallam and wife Michelle of Groton, NY and Forrest Hallam of Des Moines, Iowa; his sister, Katherine Grossman and husband Norman of Carrolton, MO; and his grandchildren, Walker and Wyatt Hallam.

Friends may visit on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

In lieu of flowers, the Hallam family requests donations can be made to the Louisiana SPCA
