Funeral services for Shelton Vidrine will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with Bro. David Newton officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in St. Landry.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Vidrine, age 79 of Lone Pine, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rita Guillory Vidrine; two grandchildren, Trevor and Lindsley Vidrine; great-grandson, Connor Kemp; daughter-in-law, Sherri Rae Vidrine; his parents, Anthony and Thelma Dykes Vidrine; and brothers, Eugene and Willie Ray Vidrine.

Survivors include his children; Yvette V. Dartez (Randy) of Kaplan, Paul Vidrine (Tammy) of Lone Pine and Jason Vidrine (Ginny Juneau) of Cheneyville; brothers, Freddie Vidrine (Carol) of Eola and Leonard Vidrine of Lone Pine; sisters, Jeanette Potts of Eola and Lottie O'Quinn of Opelousas; his grandchildren, Brandon, Brittney, Evan, Ashton, Michaela, Victoria, Jacob and Cody; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Shelton was an electrician with the IBEW local 995 and a farmer. He spent his free time hunting and fishing. He was a simple man who enjoyed being outside; whether in the woods, or in the fields.  He taught us to love the outdoors. The smell of fresh turned earth will always be a reminder of him.  His grand and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart.  In his honor, we ask that you hold your loved ones close because, as Daddy stated, "Time gets away from you."

Pallbearers include:  Ashton Vidrine, Brandon Dartez, Evan Dartez, Jacob Vidrine, Cody Vidrine and Harley Meyers.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
