A Mass of Christian Burial for Sandy Kojis will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Kojis, age 79 of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Bunkie General Hospital.

Sandy was an amazing caregiver and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She spent 30 plus years as a nurse ending her career working with Dr. Don Hines.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe E. and Lois Sessums Cheaney.

Survivors include her husband of 55 ½ years, Van Kojis of Bunkie; her daughters, Shannon K. Fender and husband Gary of Bunkie and Tiffany Underwood of Rockwall, TX; her siblings, Richard "Dicky" Cheaney and wife Lisann of Covington and Leesa Cheaney of Mandeville; her grandchildren, Taylor McClain (Keith), Elyse Fender, David Fender, Joshua Fender, Shelby Underwood and Madison Underwood-May (Samuel); and her great-grandchildren, Loxley, Ripley and Hendrix.

Friends may visit on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. with a rosary and eulogy at 10:30 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, 116 S. Knoll, Bunkie, LA  71322.
