Funeral services for Samuel Moreland will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ with the Bro. Donny McGee officiating. Burial will in the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Moreland, age 91 of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kile Moreland; his parents, Samuel Lovel Moreland, Sr. and Ophelia Clarke Moreland; a sister, Marguerita Moreland Goudeau; and a nephew Eugene Goudeau.

Survivors include three daughters; Amber Moreland Micka and husband Eddie of Monroe, Candice Moreland Fortier and husband Richard of Lafayette, and Deana Moreland Light and husband Clayton of Prairieville; a brother-in-law, Bill Goudeau of Midland, TX; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moreland was a resident of Prairieville. He is a World War II Veteran where he was a prisoner of war. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ in Bayou Jacque.
