September 20, 1947 – April 25, 2025
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rodney Dufour will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Cemetery in Plaucheville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Dufour, age 77 of Bunkie, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025 at his residence.
Rodney was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving with the 1st Marine Air Wing in Da Nang during the Vietnam Conflict as a Navy Corpsman. He was awarded the Navy Air Medal with Strike Flight for Medivac flights. Upon his return, he became a Medical Technologist and later a life of teacher in the Avoyelles Parish School System.
Rodney was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Family was extremely important to him. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, music and cooking for family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Herman and Bessie Ducote Dufour; and brothers, Leonard Dufour and Martin Dufour.
Survivors include his loving wife, Suzette Rachal Dufour of Bunkie; his children, Elizabeth Dufour of Lafayette, Nicole Dufour of Fairbanks, AK, Travis Dufour and wife Lauren of Youngsville and Ben Dufour of Bunkie; his grandchildren, Mia Beard (Juilian), Jake Dufour, Grant Dufour and Suzette Suleiman; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Dufour and Judy Cooper.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A reception will follow the burial at the Plaucheville Community Center in Plaucheville.
