Funeral services for Richard Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home with the Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Smith, age 90 of Alexandria, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Medar; his parents, Marvin and Ione Johnson Smith; and brothers, Marvin Smith and David Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judy Gladson Smith of Alexandria; his children, Richard Smith, Jr. of Missouri, Carolyn Smith of Wyoming, David Smith of Mississippi, Douglas Smith of Colorado, Johnny Smith of Hawaii, Jackie Smith of Missouri, Megan Smith of New Orleans, Tammy Louvier of New Orleans and Eugene Whitford of Alexandria; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
