A Mass of Christian Burial for Oscar Rachal will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Jose Pallipurath and Msgr. John Timmermans officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the church mausoleum. Arrangement are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Rachal, age 100 of Moreauville, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Rachal served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Rachal Furniture Company for 40 years. Oscar was an avid duck hunter and fisherman all his life and he also enjoyed making his wine and whiskey. But above all, he enjoyed his time with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Pastor Rachal; his grandson, Jared Rachal; his parents, Andrew and Aimee Moreau Rachal; eight brothers and sisters; and a special friend, Connie Roy Lemoine.

Survivors include his children, Suzette R. Dufour and husband Rodney of Bunkie, Dr. Oscar Vincent Rachal, Jr. and wife Debra of Baton Rouge, Dale Rachal and wife Sandra of Alexandria, Dr. Paul Rachal and wife Catherine of New Roads, Joel Rachal and wife Sheila of Luling, and Rachel R. Gremillion and husband Stephen of Bunkie; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and his extended family members.

Friends may visit on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Escude Funeral Home in Moreauville.
