MILDRED BUIE HALBERT

Funeral services for Mildred Halbert will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church in Cheneyville with the Bro. Arnold Norsworthy officiating, assisted by Bro. Dwayne Irwin. Burial will follow at the Old Christian Cemetery in Cheneyville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
A long time resident of Cheneyville, Mildred Buie Halbert dies at her home on Tuesday, June 01, 2010. She was 94.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula Miley Kelly and son-in-law Bert Kelly of Denham Springs; three sons and daughters-in-law, William L. Halbert and Marlene of Enoree, SC; Ricky Halbert and Belvia of Calcasieu, and Steven Halbert and Celia of Cheneyville; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Halbert; her parents, Oscar and Zelma Sandifer Buie; four sisters, three brothers, and two grandsons.
Mrs. Halbert was a 66 year member of the now defunct Martha Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cheneyville before transferring to the Eureka Chapter #65 of Bunkie.
The family would like to thank Amedysis and Oasis for their care and support and especially thank her sitters, Dana Seal, Betty Litton and Jennifer Halbert for their dedicated love and care. The prayers offered and concern shown by her many friends was greatly appreciated.
Pallbearers are Darryl, Todd, Adam, Andrew and Matthew Halbert and Cole Blackburn.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie and 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church in Cheneyville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Beulah Baptist Church, P.O. Box 356, Cheneyville, LA 71325, where she was a member for over 70 years or a charity of your preference.
