Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ethylene Pujol will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, V.G. officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Pujol, age 88 of Bunkie, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.

Mrs. Ethylene was born in Greensboro, AL on September 13, 1927. She was reared in Fulton, AL and graduated from Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, AL in 1945. She married Raymond John Pujol on February 17, 1952 in Covington, LA. Raymond and Ethylene moved to Bunkie in 1953 and opened the Western Auto Store. Together they reared six children. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the Legion of Mary.

Mrs. Ethylene was known for her outgoing personality and her wit. She enjoyed travelling the US and Europe, and the beaches of Alabama and Florida.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond John Pujol; her parents, Bernard and Lensor Moore Williamson; and her siblings.

She is survived by her children; Sherrie Desmond and husband Tom of Ashville, NC, Chris Pujol and wife Carol of Cottonport, Craig Pujol and wife Mary of Bunkie, Timmy Pujol and wife Patrice of Maurepas, Joe Pujol and wife Kelley of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Joy LaHaye and husband Jeff of Naperville, IL.

She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; Todd Voltz, Kettye Juge, Amber Desmond, Shawn Pujol, Paige Callegari, April Pujol, Mandi Guillory, Nick Pujol, Blake Pujol, Jacques Bourgeois, Andre' Pujol, Allie Pujol, Jacie Pujol and Carly Pujol; and her 15 great-grandchildren, Berlin Voltz, Olive, Jack and Ivy Juge, Kristin, Kylie and Katherine Callegari, Kaidance Landreneau, Lola and Tanner Guillory, Andrew Chaney, Addie, Aslyn and Arya Bourgeois and Marceline Dauser.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home. A wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
