Funeral services for Mary Hayes will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Hukins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Ms. Hayes, age 84 of Bunkie, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Mercy Regional Hospital in Ville Platte.

She was a lady whose heart overflowed with pure love for her family.  She would do anything for those she loved, and she did it with grace, strength and selflessness.

Her home was always open to her family and filled with love and laughter.  She loved to bake and cook for her family, and she was always eager to try new recipes.  Many times, she would call friends and family to come over and taste something fresh from her kitchen – not just to share food, but to share joy and togetherness.

Her faith in the Lord was steadfast.  She prayed faithfully for her family, covering them with a love that was not just her own, but rooted in her devotion to God.

To be loved by her was to be truly blessed.  Though her absence leaves a deep emptiness, her laughter, her prayers, and the love she poured into those she loved will continue to guide and comfort them.

She is preceded in death by a son, Kevin Hukins; her parents, Louis and Villa Grimball West; her siblings, Thomas West, Ralph West, and Barbara West Blanchard; and the father of her children, Kenneth Hukins.

Survivors include her children; Connie H. McCoy (Craig) of Bunkie, Stephanie H. Rabalais (Mack) of Morrow and Michael Hukins (Audra) of Echo; her grandchildren, Casey Cooper (Marvin), Max Hukins, Morgan Heinen (Fred), and Garrett McCoy; great-grandchildren, Marlee Barron, Caleigh Barron, Rylei Aymond, T.J. Dauzat, Madelyn Heinen and Hudson Heinen; and great-great granddaughter, Lorelei Reid.

Friends may visit on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
