Mary Elise Dupree, born December 8, 1927, in Shreveport, LA, went to be with her heavenly father on November 2 ^nd in Bunkie.  A resident of Bunkie since 1949, she lived a very productive life.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jimmie Gaines Dupree; parents, Edelweiss Buswell Addison, Dr. William Pierce Addison and Hoefert Clay Lessenger, Sr; her brother, Hoefert C. Lessenger, Jr; and sister, Betty Jane Oates.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Dr. Daniel G. Dupree and wife Cynthia of Lafayette and Ellyce Dupree Thomas and husband Bob of League City, TX.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Rebecca King, Gaines Dupree and wife Tasha, Dr. William Goins and wife Trisha, Andrew Benton, Jennifer D'Amico and husband Jeff; many nieces and nephews; great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and friends.

Mary was very active in her community by serving as a charter member of the Bunkie Service League and Garden Clubs of Lecompte and Bunkie.  She enjoyed giving to the community and helping others, especially with flower designs.  She had a prayer list for suffering family members and friends, and she prayed for them daily.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bunkie, and she gave to various missionary programs home and abroad.  Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Mike Clark Casa Aleluya, All Saints Hospice, or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the following care givers for their attentiveness, compassion and care for Mary:  Sandra Speer, Donna Sims, Izetta and Anna Vallien and Nettie Frazier.  Special recognition is extended to Joe and Roxann Robar for their love and commitment as neighbors and friends to our mother.  We wish to acknowledge Bunkie Home Care for their compassionate dedication to caring for our mother with special recognition to Alaina Hernandez.

Services will be held at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will precede the services and will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Graveside services at Pythian Cemetery in Bunkie to follow immediately thereafter.

Pallbearers:  Andrew Benton, Gaines Dupree, Dr. William Goins, Jeff D'Amico, Dr. Ben Bullock, and Addison King.
