Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Jo Lemoine will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Laird officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

Mary Jo Drouin Lemoine, age 63, of Plaucheville passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Mary Jo was a devoted wife for 46 years to Joey, mother and grandmother. She retired from Peter J. Lemoine Law Firm as their bookkeeper to concentrate on her health after her diagnosis of ALS in May of 2021. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved doing crafts and decorating for all the holidays. She loved flower gardening and planted a lot of flowers for each season.  Her love for flowers and flower arranging came from being raised in her grandmother's and uncle's flower shops. She loved cooking and feeding people. Mary Jo truly believed that you should treat everyone with kindness no matter what. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

She is preceded death by her custodial grandparents Norris & Gloria Drouin, father Joseph Drouin, mother Mary Drouin, uncles Robert and Stephen Drouin, brothers Mark and Joey Drouin, her beloved in-laws Alex and Mae Lemoine and great-grandson Eli Cooper.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, high school sweetheart and best friend Joseph A. Lemoine, III, her children, Jeremy Lemoine (Stacy) of Plaucheville, Kandace Moses (Avery) of Plaucheville, and Juliana Mobile (Dustin) of Krotz Springs. Her seven grandchildren, Payton, Mia and Ali Moses, Tucker and Jaxon Mobile, Jeremy and Blake Cooper; and her seven great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Sylvia Knoll (Mark) of Belledeau, Phillip, Jerrell, Beryl and Lynn, and her aunt Mona D. Ross.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to All Saints Hospice, her nurse, Annica Dupuy, and her caregiver, Nicole Madrigal for the exceptional care they have given her; and to Rev.  Martin Laird of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church for his time he spent with her praying and preparing her for her journey.

Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.  A rosary will be recited at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
