A Mass of Christian Burial for Marlin Saltzman will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Chemino, V.G. officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Moncla. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Saltzman, age 88 of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Bunkie.
Marlin retired from the United States Air Force as a SMSGT after 27 years of service. He served during the Korean War and did 4 tours during the Vietnam War, where he was a Bronze Star recipient.
He is preceded in death by wife, Jane "Chick" Saltzman; a son, Robert Lewis Saltzman; step-daughter, Karen Gremillion; twin brother, Merlin Ray Saltzman; brothers, Dorrell Saltzman, Denton Saltzman and Milton "Sonny" Saltzman.
Survivors include his wife; Maryanne Saltzman of Bunkie; daughter, Sarah S. Macy and husband Terry of Palmdale, CA; step-daughter, Barbara Selby (Scott); grandchildren, Joseph Gimmestad, Jacob Gimmestad, Laurie and Jamie Floyd, Janet and Jason Landry, Corrie Pedersen and Erik Macy; and great-grandson, Logan Gimmestad.
Pallbearers include: Terry Macy, Jacob Gimmestad, Jason Landry, Jamie Floyd and David Belgard.
Friends may visit from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
