Margaret A. Gullett Waddell, born October 8, 1944, passed away on January 24, 2016 in Birmingham, AL. She had previously been a resident of Evergreen and Bunkie, LA.

Mrs. Waddell is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. Waddell; her parents, David and Helen Gullett; her mother-in-law, Cleda Rabalais Waddell; her brothers, Marshall Gullett and David Gullett; and a sister, Helen Howard.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Waddell of Jackson, FL and Chantel Waddell-Saville (Steve) of Cambridgeshire, UK; her son, Clinton Waddell (Carla) of Birmingham, LA; a sister, Jane Poole of Cheneyville; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Riley and Vivienne.

Mrs. Waddell attended Delta Business College in Alexandria as a young woman attaining an Associate's Degree in Business. After marrying, she worked in Lafayette for Dresser Industries and Sears Robuck and Co. in accounting positions. When her family moved to Schaumburg, IL, she gave up working outside the home to become a stay at home mom. Later Mrs. Waddell became a school bus driver to be able to care for her children and return to working outside the home. After her children were grown, she returned to accounting, working alongside her husband, Clarence, in their privately owned medical electronics business until his death in 1999.

Margaret loved to cook and was well known by many of her friends, neighbors, and family members for culinary skills that had a "Southern" flair. She also enjoyed crocheting and presenting her special treasures that had been created by hand as wedding presents and baby gifts. She and her husband relished traveling for both business and leisure and would often just "go for a ride" to experience new places.

The last several years of Mrs. Waddell's life had been marred by sickness, but did not leave her without hope. She was a lifelong Catholic and believed she would be reunited in Heaven with her husband and family members one day.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Monday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
