Obituary

Louise Robert Candella died on March 7th 2026 at the age of 94 at the Bailey Place in Bunkie, LA

Louise was born in Evergreen but lived her entire married life in Bunkie with her husband, former Bunkie Police Chief Charlie Candella.

Louise worked for over 20 years at Wilson's Department Store as their bookkeeper. In her retirement she enjoyed substitute teaching and working at local boutiques for fun. She enjoyed reading, watching game shows, working on Charlie's  political campaigns and going to the casino with her husband and her sisters. She was a resident of Sewell Street in Bunkie for many years where she gave the neighbors lots of entertainment and laughs. She was known to her friends as Big Lou and known as Grandmother to her 4 grandchildren and 6 great grand children.

Louise was a long time member of the Avoyelles Business Women's Association, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Legion of Mary.

Louise and Charlie always helped the less fortunate often giving people the coat off their backs. She had a big heart but was also sassy and quick to tell you when she didn't like something.

She is preceded in death by her husband  Charlie Candella, her granddaughter Crystal Candella, her son in law Brent Guillory, her parents Ford and Lena Robert, her sisters Mary Faye Clark, Patricia Gauthier, Mattye Scallan and Bobbie Flake as well as brothers Alvin Lee Robert, Clopton Robert and Drew Robert.

She is survived by her children Charles Candella Jr. ( Debbie), Cayla Guillory, her granddaughters Charla Guillory, Carly Crowley ( Cam), Courtney Duhon ( Brandon) and her beloved great grandchildren Braxton Roy, Leighton Duhon, Jasper Crowley, Camdyn Crowley, Kynlee Duhon and Charlie Ford Crowley, her sister Opal Neucere and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Passages Hospice and the Bailey Place for taking care of her these past 2 years. Their kindness and care was very special to Louise and she loved every single person there.

Private services for Louise will be announced at a later date.
