A Mass of Christian Burial for Louis "Jr" Redmon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of the Little Flower Cemetery in Evergreen. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Redmon, age 91 of Bunkie, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the
Bayou Vista Community Care Center.
Jr. was born on July 4, 1933 in Evergreen and raised in Bunkie. He started working in his father's mechanic shop as a young boy. He found the love of his life; Juliette and they were married for 68 years. Jr. worked for 40 years offshore as an electrician for Santa Fe Fluor Drilling. After retiring he opened Jr.'s Repair Shop in Bunkie and mentored his grandsons on how to take care of their vehicles. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Roy at Toledo Bend, going to the camp with the son and sons-in-law and grandkids, watching Wheel of Fortune, old cowboy shows and football. Jr. was always up for a crawfish boil, a cold beer and a glass of wine.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juliette Gagnard Redmon; a grandson, Jonathan Lyons; his parents, Louis E. and Gladys Morgan Redmon; brother, William "Snookie" Redmon; and brother-in-law, Jack Horton.
Survivors include his children; Connie R. LaPrairie (Bobby) of Bunkie, Carolyn R. Lyons (Tommy) of Slidell and Buddy Redmon (Connie) of Bunkie; a brother, Roy Redmon (Geisla) of Round Mountain, TX; sisters, Linda Horton of Leesville and Nelwyn Mills (William) of Bunkie; his grandchildren, Bryan LaPrairie (Carmen), Brandon LaPrairie (Kim), Brady LaPrairie (Amber), Jason Redmon (Robert), Casey Redmon (Billie Jo), Valerie R. Plauche (John), Sara Lyons and Lauren Lyons (David Rouse); 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Bryan LaPrairie, Brandon LaPrairie, Brady LaPrairie, Jason Redmon, Casey Redmon, John Plauche and Cullen Plauche. Honorary pallbearers are Landon LaPrairie, Christian Plauche, Preston Redmon, Pierre LaPrairie, Evan Plauche, Tucker Woodard and Wyatt Lyons. Altar server will be Matthew Plauche.
The family wishes to thank Bayou Vista Community Care Center, all the staff, nurses and CNA's for taking such wonderful care of our Dad and Compassionate Hospice for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bunkie or Church of the Little Flower in Evergreen.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home.
