A Mass of Christian Burial for Louella Descant will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Ms. Descant, age 83 of Bunkie, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025 in Bunkie.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Roxann Fontenot Lachney; her mother, Lennie Descant; father, John B. Descant; siblings, JoAnn Fontanille, John Descant, Jr., Mary Lee Ortego and Jerry Descant.

Survivors include her children; Debbie Yeager-Prokop and husband Mike of Denham Springs, Peggy Fontenot of Denham Springs, Karen F. Manuel of Bunkie and James Fontenot and wife Lynn of Bunkie; 3 sisters, Dorothy Aymond of Hessmer, Betty Lowery of Marksville and Patricia Guillot of Plaucheville; her grandchildren, Cory Manuel, Chad Yeager, Tyler Fontenot, Anna Whitmore, Haas Wolff, Lucas Lachney and Amanda Fontenot and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
