Funeral services for Johnnie Smith will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the First Pentecost Church of Bayou Rouge in Palmetto with the Pastor Bob Fruen officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayou Jacque Pentecost Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Smith, age 85 of Goudeau, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge and he loved to hunt and fish.

He is preceded in death by a son, Raymond Lee Smith; a daughter, Emily Faye Smith; his parents, Joseph Lee and Emily Doucet Smith, Sr.; and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Rose Marie Seilhan Smith of Goudeau; two sons, Johnnie Joseph Smith, Jr. and wife Cathy of Montgomery, TX; and David Wayne Smith and wife Jinea of Lake Charles; one daughter, Cheryl Kaye Mitchell and husband Michael of Head of Island, LA; one brother, Joseph Lee Smith, Jr. of Sulphur; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the First Pentecostal Church of Bayou Rouge, 1818 Hwy 360, Palmetto, LA 71358.
