JOHN P. JEANSONNE

Funeral services for John P. "J.P." Jeansonne will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayou Rouge Baptist Cemetery in Evergreen. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Jeansonne, age 83 of Bunkie, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.
Mr. Jeansonne was retired from the Louisiana Highway Department where he was a surveyor and inspector for 30 years. He also retired from the United States Air Force Reserves as a Master Sergeant at the age of 60 with 32 years of service and numerous commendations. Mr. J.P. loved his family and was an avid outdoorsmen and animal lover.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Edna R. Jeansonne; his parents; Elton and Mathilda Jeansonne; and his siblings, Theda J. Riche, Orelia J. Reed, James Elton Jeansonne and Earl Jeansonne.
Survivors include his two sons; John Michael Jeansonne and his wife Dee of Ville Platte and Billy Jeansonne of Bunkie; his daughter, Linda J. Riche and husband Dale of Prairieville; his daughter-in-law, Donna Jeansonne of Bunkie; a sister, Betty Lou Gongre and husband Bill of Plaquemine; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Monday and 8:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
