A Mass of Christian Burial for John Mayeux will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin Laird officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Plaucheville.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

John Mayeux passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the age of 82.

Myron was born to Evans and Maydel Mayeux on November 13, 1939.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1967.  He is a lifelong resident of Plaucheville.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Myron also loved camping, hunting and fishing.  He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed working on vehicles and doing carpentry.  He retired from working offshore with Global after 26 years.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Susan M. Mayeux; one son, Mitchel Mayeux, Sr. of Grenada, MS; three daughters, Sandra Pellerin of Plaucheville, Susie Mayeux Dixon and husband Hugh of Baytown, TX and Tammy Mayeux Eves and husband Byrns of Bunkie; two step-children, Rodney Johnson, Sr. (Dana) of Plaucheville and Tammy Johnson Mallett of Daphne, AL.  He is also survived by two brothers, Fred Mayeux (Verlie), Davis Mayeux (Earleen) and sister Kathleen Gremillion all of Baton Rouge; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Evans and Maydel Guilbeau Mayeux.

Pallbearers will include: Rodney Johnson, Jr., Coby Tassin, Luke Johnson, Mitchel Mayeux, Jr., Michael Eves and Gavin Chesne.  Cross bearer will be Julian Eves.

Friends may visit on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.
