Funeral services for Mr. J.B. Lutz will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home with the Bros. Bill Housley and Roger Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in the White's Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Lutz passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 in his home at the age of 88. J.B. graduated from Bayou Chicot High School in 1944 and was a Veteran of World War II. He was an oil field worker, farmer, cattleman and avid hunter, killing a deer and two hogs last season. He retired from Columbia Carbon Co., Eola, LA after 28 years of service. John was a former member of the St. Landry Baptist Church, was an ordained deacon and served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons, teaching a class of intermediate boys of which his two sons were members. He is presently a member of Eola Baptist Church, where he taught an adult Sunday school class.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Marshall and Mabel Dunn Lutz and one sister, Louise Lutz Neal.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Doris "Dot" Harrell Lutz of St. Landry; his two sons, John B. Lutz, Jr. "Dooney" and wife Valerie of Amite, LA and Wayne Lutz and his wife Debbie of St. Landry; five grandchildren, John B. Lutz, III, James Edward Lutz, Brandon Jarrett Lutz, and Shelly Robin Lutz Head and Randy L. Head, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Kale Shelton and Kailyn McKenzie Head.
Pallbearers serving are; John B. Lutz, III, James Edward Lutz, Brandon Jarrett Lutz, Randy L. Head, Jr., David Adam Tubre and Robert Wayne Lutz.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday and 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
