Mr. Hubbard, age 88 of Big Cane, Louisiana fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Johnny was born on January 10, 1933, to Maud and Lee Hubbard. Johnny had a love of hunting, hunting dogs and horseback riding from a very early age and growing up in Veazie was the perfect childhood home to accommodate many hours spent in the woods. He, along with his brothers and friends, thoroughly enjoyed playing sports together at Palmetto High. In years to come, he would later find himself still involved in sports as both an umpire and a referee. On occasion, Johnny even called his daughter's games and he did not hesitate to call fouls.

Following in the footsteps of his Daddy, he was a school bus driver for many years. Over the years, several memories have been shared by others in recollection of the time he spent watching over kids on the school bus. He made his living working as a farmer and cattleman. Countless hours were spent behind the wheel of a tractor and at pulling a trailer to and from the sale barn, with kids in tow. He reflected upon nature as God's handiwork and taught his children and grandchildren about everything from planting to how to identify the birds by the songs that they sing.

He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Mary Ruth Pound Hubbard; his parents, Otis Lee and Hattie Maud Rutledge Hubbard; his siblings, Thomas Hubbard, Terry Hubbard, Urseal Sanders, Mary McGee, Wayne Hubbard Dave Hubbard, and George Hubbard; Chatman grandchild; Myers great-grandchild.

Survivors include his daughters, Melanie Hubbard Meche (Todd) of Big Cane and Tanya Hubbard Chatman (Heath) of Big Cane; his grandchildren, Kristen M. Miller (Wesley), Marlayna M. Myers (Benjamin), Joni M. Roy (Nicholas), Oliva Ruth Chatman, Jenna Rose Chatman, Eli John-David Chatman, Iva Jamey Chatman, Audra Margaret Chatman, Thea Nan Chatman, granddaughter in Christ, Zayira Quiroz; great-grandchildren, Daniel Todd Miller, Nora Lorraine Miller, Noah Ray Myers, Josephine Ruth Roy, Della Grace Myers and Baby Boy Roy; and sister-in-laws, Mary Ellen Hubbard and Janet Hubbard

So much time was spent instilling the love of Jesus in family and anyone he met, because he didn't meet a stranger, as he introduced himself to everyone (whether they wanted to talk or not!). In recent weeks before his passing, Johnny spoke vividly about the wonderful God-fearing parents and family with whom he had been blessed. He always reminded everyone that his "..Lord owns the cattle on a thousand hills..."(Psalm 50:10) The family rejoices that he is reunited with his Lord and loved ones, experiencing the eternal cattle call.
