A Mass of Christian Burial for John Andries will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Morrow with Rev. Vincent Thanaraj officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Catherine's Cemetery in Rosa.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Dr.  Andries, age 80 of Rosa, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his residence.

John worked for the state agricultural department for twelve years where he headed up the boll weevil eradication program and went on to farm and raise cattle.  He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Morrow, where he served on the council for many years.  John loved his wife, family and community.   He loved fishing, working with his cattle, riding his Kabota and spending time with his family most of all.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Eugene, Sr. and Maggie Verzwyvelt Andries; a brother, Eugene "Tunk" Andries; and a sister, Shirley Lee.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years; Patsy Vanderlick Andries of Rosa; his children, Tracy Beard (Hals) of Rosa, Kenneth Andries (Jeannie) of Winchester, KY and Gary Andries of Rosa; sisters, Faye "Duke" Mathews of Alexandria and Mary Jo Broussard (Aaron) of Alexandria; his grandchildren, Danielle Newsom (Aaron), Heidi Richard (Kris), Lauren Emerson (J.T.), Cody Beard, Maggie Beard, Aaron

Andries and Calvin Andries (Samantha); and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Karleigh, Erin, Daphne, Jaina, Peter, Aubree, Wyatt, Jack and Bridger.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until rosary time at 10:30 a.m. followed by the mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Morrow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
