A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. followed by the memorial service. On Tuesday, November 12, 2024 there will be a Mass of Remembrance at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in St. Landry followed by the burial in Vandenburg Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mr. Tubre, age 68 of St. Landry, was born on March 13, 1956 and passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family.
Pete was born in Bunkie, LA and resided in St. Landry, LA. He grew up in the countryside he preferred and enjoyed his whole life. Pete had a heart of gold which was apparent to those who knew and loved him. He worked as a crane operator in the construction industry for many years. He was a master at refinishing and completely redoing old tractors and could take apart and put anything back together. He loved anything with a motor. Pete had an adventuresome spirit manifested by his love of motorcycle riding and his one experience of souped-up lawnmower racing (it didn't end well).
Pete is preceded in death by his parents; P.H. and Willie Lee Harrell Tubre and a sister, Norma Jean Tubre Desselle.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Thoms Tubre; his son, David Tubre (Trixy Peart); stepsons, Russell and Michael White; sisters, Harriet Woollett (Matt) and Patsy Rizer (Berlyn); grandchildren, Kylie, Cain and Luke; step-grandchildren, Bret, Olivia, Hannah and Anthony, all of whom he adored. He cherished his role as "PaPete".
He will be sorely missed by those who loved him, but we are thankful that his suffering is over and now he is his best self, living his best life in heaven with the Lord he loved.
The family would like to thank All Saints Hospice of Mansura for their unsurpassed quality of care during his transition. All the caregivers were like angels who stepped in and did all the hard stuff, especially assuring and comforting the family.
To Pete's special friends at Fresenius Kidney Care, thank you for the love and friendship. Everything would have been so much harder without your devotion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the rosary at 5:30 p.m. followed by service at 6:00 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
