Graveside services for Irvin Dunbar were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Bayou Rouge Baptist Cemetery with the Bro. Cobran Edwards officiating.  Arrangements were under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Dunbar, age 91 of Bunkie, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2017 at the Bayou Vista Community Care Center.

Mr. Dunbar served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II.  He landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944.  He received the Bronze Star for participation in bombardment and invasion of the French coast.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Marie Gloer Dunbar; his parents, Leon and Annie Blalock Dunbar; and a sister, Ione D. Williams.

Survivors include his daughters; Pat Edwards and husband Cobran of Tupelo, MS, Judy Bordelon and husband Danny of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Susan Quebedeaux and husband Dwayne of Lafayette; one sister, Leona F. Dunbar of Evergreen; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included:  Jonathan Edwards, Joseph Quebedeaux, Eric Barber, Scott Boullion, Mitch Broussard, Ross Ryder, and Richard Calhoun.
