A Mass of Christian Burial for Iris Anne Ducote Jeansonne will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Derek Ducote officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Mausoleum.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Jeansonne, age 75 of Hessmer, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Iris was a 1966 graduate of Cottonport High School.  She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where she served as an Eucharist Minister and a Lector.  She was also very involved as a member of the Altar Society.  Iris loved baking, trying new recipes and spending time in her yard gardening and growing beautiful flowers.  Her greatest joy was her family who she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Harriet Hungerford Ducote and a brother, Larry Ducote.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Nathan Jeansonne of Hessmer; her daughters, Stacey Hunt (Scott) of Zachary, Natalie Patout (Colby) of Lafayette and Celeste Richard of Lafayette; her brother, Clay Ducote (Joan) of Cottonport; a sister, Elaine Weeks (Grady) of St. Francisville; grandchildren, Julie Phillips, Justin Tassin, Cameron Hulin, Emily Hunt and Ashton Brackett; and her great-grandchildren, Lilith, Dallas and Liam.

Friends may visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.  A rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
