It is with deep regret that the family announces the death of their beloved sister, Helen Owens.  Helen passed from this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Helen was born on December 20, 1941.  Upon high school graduation, she moved to Covina, CA, where she lived until her retirement at Conrac Technologies in 2003.  She moved back to Louisiana to be closer to her family and settled in Bunkie, where she lived until her death.

Helen was a very independent and strong-willed person.  Don't tell her she couldn't do something because she would prove you wrong every time.  She was an avid quilter.  She made beautiful quilts by hand and gave to her family members and close friends.  As arthritis set in her hands and fingers, she could no longer make them by hand, she turned to making them with the help of a machine.

Helen is preceded in death by her son, Brian Owens; parents, Jeff and Felonise Chelette Cason; two sisters, Barbara Cason and Cora Caraway.

Those left to cherish her memories are her six siblings, Julia Asbra, Jenny Soileau, Linda Redmon, Charles (Pat) Cason, Sandra Carter and Jeffery Cason and a host of nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by all those who knew her.

Graveside services will be held at The Cason Cemetery in Big Cane on Friday, January 19, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Jack Bell officiating.  Burial will follow.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
