JOSEPH EVERTON DESHOTEL, SR.

Funeral services for Everton Deshotel, Sr. will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Big Cane Baptist Church with the Bro. Brian Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bayou Jacque Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Everton Deshotel, Sr. joined our Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 95 and a lifelong resident of Bayou Jacque.
He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture, and a farmer. Mr. Everton was a longtime member and the oldest member of the Big Cane Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Elvira Baham Deshotel; two sons, Everton, Jr. and Gerald Deshotel; and a daughter, Sheryl Deshotel Walton.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Marino and her husband Jim of Baton Rouge and Shirley Falcon and her husband Emanuel of Prairieville; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Deshotel of Goudeau; his brother, Otis Deshotel of Dupont; and three sisters, Anna Jofferion of Baton Rouge, Ruth Marlow of Vidor, TX, and Ethel Willis of Dupont; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at the Big Cane Baptist Church.
