A Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn DeSoto will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church with Rev. Kurian Zachariah officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

Mrs. DeSoto, age 84 of Hessmer, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the Hessmer Nursing Home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rutherford DeSoto; her parents, Aydron and Avia Galland Dubroc; brothers, Norris Dubroc and Lee James Dubroc; sisters, Shirrell Firmin and Barbara Ann Dubroc; grandson, Christopher Lemoine; and great-granddaughter Gracie DeSoto.

Survivors include her children; Sheila Lemoine of Bunkie, Stephanie Foti of Plaucheville, Stephen DeSoto (Michelle) of Gonzales and Samantha DeSoto of Mansura; a brother, Evans Dubroc (Sandra) of Dupont; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include:  Joshua DeSoto, Jacob DeSoto, Dominick Foti, Derrick Foti, Craig DeSoto and Meagan Gunn.

Friends may visit on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the St. Martin of Tours Church Hall in Belledeau.
