Dad was a devout family man. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with Mom surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Those times were never short on love, laughter, and great food. His family extended to more than his children. Dad always found time for the young people in the community. He was "Dad" to many young men and women and earned their love and respect. He labored tirelessly to ensure that young people had a place to go and enjoy good, clean fellowship. He and Mom enjoyed cooking and entertaining in their Veazie home for many years. His hospitality and willingness to help anyone in need will always be remembered.
Dad's love for the Lord and deep faith was evident. He was an active member of the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ and cherished time with his church family. He was always available to help with services, building maintenance, or any other need that might arise. One of his all-time favorite places to be was at Christian Youth Encampment in DeRidder, Louisiana. He spent many summer weeks as a staff member, teacher, and Godly example to the young campers.
Dad was a 32nd Degree Mason and was also Post Commander of the American Legion Post 305 for twenty years.
Visitation will be at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and the Bayou Jacque Church of Christ on Monday November 18, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at noon. Online condolences may be sent to www.hixson-ducote.com
