Funeral services for Elsie Barnidge Beaver will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Andre Bordelon officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Episcopal Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Beaver of Cheneyville, LA was born March 8, 1925 in Glenmora and passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the age of 93. She had been a resident of Cheneyville since 1929.

She was a graduate of Cheneyville High School and Alexandria Business College. She was a member of Beulah Baptist church where she taught in the Beginner Sunday School department for many years. Mrs. Beaver was retired from the Rapides Parish School Board where she was a teacher aide for 27 years.

She liked to cook, read and send cards and notes to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Morrison Beaver, Sr; a son, Edward M. Beaver, Jr.; her parents, Willard and Melvina Monk Barnidge; her sister, Bernice Callahan Randolph; and niece Elsye Kay Smith.

She is survived by one son, Alton Willard Beaver (Paula) of Cheneyville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Beaver of Cheneyville; one grandson Edward Beaver, III (Alicia); four granddaughters Vikki Wilder (Brian), Pamela Dawson (Ty), Stacey Burgess (Josh), and Alison Beaver;7 great-granddaughters, Katelin & Madalin Wilder, Kirsten & Karli Dawson, Kylee & Katie Burgess and Avery Beaver; 7 great-grandsons, Quintin Wilder, Reece & Foster Dawson, Gavin, Cannon and Breck Beaver, and Cole Burgess; two nephews, Clark Callahan and Joe Callahan (Kathy); and one niece, Carmen Ann Schouest.

Pallbearers will include her grandsons; Quintin Wilder, Reece Dawson, Foster Dawson, Gavin Beaver, Cannon Beaver, Breck Beaver and Cole Burgess.  Honorary pallbearer will be a nephew, Joe Callahan.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Baptist in Cheneyville.
