ELEANOR ANNIE LAURIE HUDSPETH CONRAD

Funeral services for Laurie Hudspeth Conrad will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Bartholomew Ibe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ferguson Cemetery in St. Landry. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mrs. Conrad, age 85 of New Orleans, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at East Jefferson General Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Elmer Conrad; daughter, Anne Conrad Martinez; grandson, Rodney Martinez; her parents, Thomas Lawrence and Martha Alma Tatman Hudspeth; brother, Daniel David Hudspeth, and sister, Rosa Clothilde Hudspeth.
Survivors include her three children; Terry Conrad, wife of John Fedoroff, Billy Conrad, and Christopher John Conrad, husband of Mai Thi Phan; brother, Charles Tatman Hudspeth; sisters, Martha Alma Hudspeth Ducote and Fleeta Imelda Hudspeth Chautin; grandchildren, John Stephen Fedoroff, Meghann Laree Fedoroff, and a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
"Banny", as she was called by her family, was born in 1927 on the Bayou Cocodrie. She attended Morrow High School in Morrow, LA and studied at Charity Hospital in New Orleans as a member of the U.S. Cadet Corp. She owned and operated Von's Day Care Nursery and Preschool in Bywater for more than forty-eight years, and became loving known as "Nurse" to three generations of children. She made significant contributions to the family's genealogy, a source of labor and passion for the greater part of her life. May she be received into the open and waiting arms of Our Blessed Mother, and Her Son, Jesus.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
