A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Edward Mitchell will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the KC/CDA Hall with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating.  Burial will follow with military honors in the Pythian Mausoleum.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Mitchell, age 88 of Bunkie, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Hessmer Nursing Home.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Rena Milligan Mitchell; parents, Gilbert and Rosa Lee Aymond Mitchell; his brother, Freddie Mitchell; and a grandson, Jonathan Paul Mitchell.

Survivors include his children; Regina M. Andrus and husband David of Pineville, Janet M. VanMol and husband Steve of Lecompte; and Gary Mitchell and fiancé Missy Mose of Cottonport; his grandchildren, Brandon Andrus (Jenny), Jessica Andrus (Dustin Sayes), Corey VanMol (Alaina), Cody Mitchell (Kristina) and Abby Mitchell; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Hessmer Nursing Home staff for taking such good care of their father.

Friends may visit on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
