Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery in Flatwoods, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mrs. Smith, age 90 of Bunkie, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Summerhouse Bailey Place.
Dorothy, better known as “Dot” grew up in Mora, LA. She was a proud graduate of Northwestern State University, especially being a 2nd generation graduate, as her mother had graduated from Louisiana State Normal College, now known as NSU.
Dot began her professional career at the Rapides Bank, working in the Main office in downtown Alexandria. While working here, she met Ollie “Dooley” Wolff through friends. They were married December 29, 1956. The couple relocated to Luling, LA where they started their family. Dot worked in the Purchasing and Human Resources Depts at Monsanto for many years.
They decided to move back home closer to family and settled in Eola on Bayou Boeuf. This homestead became Dot's sanctuary and source of peace and comfort as the years passed.
In 1975, Dot began working as office manager for Dr Don Hines clinic in Bunkie which would later become part of BGH. During her career here, Dot formed many friendships and helped many patients with insurance & billing questions. She was a problem solver and always willing to help a friend.
While working in Bunkie, Dot was a charter member of the Bunkie Belles, a chapter of the American Business Women's Association. She cherished the networks and friendships she formed with other working women and mothers.
She was also very active in her beloved church, Eola Baptist church for 50+ years. For many years, she typed the bulletin for Sunday services. She regularly attended 3 services and loved her church family immensely.
In her later years, she and husband, Cleve, could be found at her home in Eola picking pecans and dining at the Katfish Kitchen, sometimes 3 x a week.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved visiting her sisters, Bobbie and Fredda, and their families in Houston, particularly at Thanksgiving. She and her younger brother, Mac shared a special bond, even though she admitted she was a little jealous when he came along and claimed the “baby of the family” role.
She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. Many friends have mentioned her always ready smile, style, quick wit, with a little bit of sass! She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Ollie Allen “Dooley” Wolff and Cleveland Smith; her son, Blaine Allen Wolff; and her parents, Jessie James and Edna Blanche Wise Cooley.
Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Wolff Riche of Bunkie and Dee Dee Wolff McCoy and husband Doug of Youngsville; her siblings, Bobbie Olson of Houston, Fredda Hyde of Houston and Mac Cooley (Linda) of Ball; grandchildren, James Riche, Joshua Riche (Leigh Ann), Marie-Elise Malzahn, Jake McCoy and Julia McCoy; and great-grandchildren, Case Riche, Mia Riche, Reese Riche, Sunnie Riche and Waiks McCoy.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bailey Place for their love and care for the past 2 years. And, also a special thank you to Harbor Hospice for their care during her final months
