Obituary
Funeral services for Dorothy Inez Roy will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with the Bro. Lamar Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Alphonse Cemetery in Hessmer. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mrs. Roy passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Dorothy Inez Hodges Roy was born in Winn Parish, Louisiana on March 24, 1923. After serving in the Navy during WWII she later married Anthony "Tony" Roy from Hessmer, Louisiana. They had four children, Thomas Bryan Roy (Gwen) of Bunkie, Dorothy Ann Roy Reyna (Armando) of Richmond, Texas, Toni Katherine Roy Dixon (Hal) of Brandon, MS, and Mark Anthony Roy (Carrie) of Pineville, La. Inez has five grandchildren, Chris Roy, Jon Roy, Amy Roy, Ben Dixon and Melissa Dixon and four great granddaughters. She also leaves behind special nieces and nephews, Linda and Larry Amberg of Woodworth and Johnny and Judy Hodges of Georgetown.
Mrs. Roy retired from South Central Bell after 35 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Growing flowers and working in her yard was her favorite past time along with cooking and crafting and enjoying her family and friends. She was a resident of England Oaks in Alexandria.
Inez is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Roy, her parents, Thomas Hodges and Emma Bell Maxwell Hodges and all of her siblings, Ida Elizabeth Hodges Claunch, Clara Mae Hodges, John David (Sonny Man) Hodges, Pinkie Lou Hodges Guin, Lodie Hodges, Ray Walter Hodges, James Richard Hodges, Annie Marie Hodges Gauthier, Frances Lapearl Hodges, and Geraldine Hodges Schoen.
Pallbearers will include; Chris Roy, Jon Roy, Ben Dixon, Jeremy Hodges, Peter Gauthier and Gordon "Troy" Gauthier. Honorary Pallbearers include; Landon Amberg, O.L. Carl, Jamie Ducote and Cookie Ducote.
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie
