Dorothea Lemoine
Gaillard
Feb 20, 1939 — Sep 1, 2026
Plaucheville
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothea “Dot” Gaillard, age 87, of Plaucheville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday September 5, 2026, at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Laird officiating. Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson‑Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.
Mrs. Gaillard passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, surrounded by her children, at the Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center.
Born and raised in Plaucheville, Dot was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School and a lifelong member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, where she served faithfully as an organist for 30 years. Her devotion to her parish extended through her work with the Ladies Altar Society and her instrumental leadership in the Blue Army, reflecting a life rooted in prayer, service, and community.
Dot was also a master gardener, known for her dedication to keeping the church’s flower beds vibrant and beautiful throughout the seasons. Her love of plants blossomed into a daylily and plant business, where she shared her passion and knowledge with neighbors, friends, and fellow gardeners. At home, her greatest joy was found in the kitchen — cooking and baking for her large family, filling every gathering with warmth, comfort, and the unmistakable taste of her love.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill Gaillard; infant daughter, Mary Gaillard; grandson, Noah Bordelon; great‑grandchildren, Millie and Miller Bordelon; parents, Gibbon and Grace Lemoine; sister, Barbara Saucier; and brothers, Darrell and Paul Lemoine.
She is survived by her children: Monica Gaillard of Plaucheville, Mark Gaillard (Ericka) of Plaucheville, Michelle Bordelon (Chris) of Plaucheville, Marcel Gaillard (Pamela) of Moreauville, Maria Golseth (Chad) of Colleyville, TX, Melanie Gaillard of Plaucheville, Maureen Herrera (John) of Plaucheville, and Miki John Gaillard of Plaucheville.
She also leaves behind her brother, Johnny Lemoine (Inez) of Plaucheville; sisters, Rachel Saucier of Franklin and Vera Mae Garafola of Hammond; 24 grandchildren and 22 great‑grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her love, her faith, and her example of humility and strength.
