Darrell Lemoine passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 65 years, Claudette, as well as, his children and grandchildren at his side on June 24 th at 9:50 a.m.

Darrell's lifelong work was farming. After marrying Claudette Ducote, on July 2, 1956, he was drafted to the Army in 1958 where he proudly served his country in El Paso until 1960. They then purchased Lemoine's Grocery and ran it for five years. After selling the store, he began farming with his brother, Paul, and later with his father, Gibbon, and youngest brother, Johnny. As his sons reached adulthood, he began farming with them creating Darrell Lemoine and Sons.  He remained a farmer until his retirement in 2002. His grandson, Jonah, carries on the tradition, farming much of the same land Darrell did. He served as mayor of the Village or Plaucheville for 12 years from 1968 to 1980.

He is survived by his loving wife Claudette, three children,  Lisa Lemoine (Michael Fore), Michael Lemoine (Brenda) and Jarod Lemoine (Julie); four grandchildren, Jonah (Natalie), Jack, Jordyn, and Juliet Lemoine; a step grandchild, Haylee Doyle; great grandson Riley; two brothers Paul and Johnny Lemoine; three sisters, Rachel Saucier, Dot Gaillard, and Vera Mae Garafola. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gibbon and Grace Lemoine, his son Randall Patrick Lemoine and sister, Barbara Saucier.

Pallbearers are Jack Lemoine, Jonah Lemoine, Terry St. Romain, Keith Saucier, Mark Gaillard, and Jason Lemoine. The cross barer will be Michelle Gaillard and altar boys will be Nicholas and Benjamin Aymond and Carter Lemoine. Readers will be Marcel Gaillard, Baxter Saucier, and Guy Lemoine.

Darrell is remembered as a loving, generous man who never had a closed hand to family, friends, or strangers.

Special thanks to two amazing caregivers Annie and Petra Lofton for caring for him and his wife so lovingly for the past year.
