Ms. Halfaker, age 65 of Dupont, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Bayou Vista Community Care Center.
Courtney was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force and served at Kessler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS, and Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
Courtney was a fun-loving girl who enjoyed practical jokes with her sisters and attended every Mardi Gras parade possible. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially game nights where her boisterous laughter filled the room. "Cookie" was well loved and cared for at Avoyelles Manor Nursing Home, where everyone knew her love for anything silly.
Courtney lived for her children, sweet tea, chocolate, and seafood boils but could also garnish a dish like a gourmet chef. Her many road trips seemed to bring about a mysterious illness, but only when it was her turn to drive. Her arguments were unparalleled and occasionally wrong. The last word belonged to her. Always.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Riley and Theresa Ellen Lacombe Bourque.
Survivors include her children; Matthew J. Halfaker (Angele) of Denham Springs, John R. Halfaker (Sara) of Lafayette, and Regina Marie Halfaker of Alexandria; her sisters, Angelique Fogleman (Louis) of Morrow, Mary Marcotte (Richard) of Evergreen, Laura Kliethermes (Gary) of Plaucheville, Sid Hall (Frank) of Natchitoches, Theresa Dunn (Pat) of Lecompte, Lisa Blatt (Doug) of Alvin, TX, and Jeanne Thomas (Alan) of Glenburn, ND; and her grandchildren, Jameson Clark, Addisyn Jenkins and Cameron Robinette.
Pallbearers will include; Matthew Halfaker, John Halfaker, Phillip Fogleman, Adam Burkhart, Cody Dunn, William Marcotte, and honorary pallbearer, Jamseon Clark.
Friends may visit on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Little Flower in Evergreen.
