Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carroll Duos will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte with Rev. Darren Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Duos, age 90 of Ville Platte, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Heritage Manor in Ville Platte.

Carroll (Brud) graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte in 1954. He loved the Lord and prayed often. Carroll proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany, an experience he often reflected on with pride and gratitude.

After returning home to Louisiana, he met and married Jane, with whom he shared a wonderful life and marriage of 65 years. Carroll built a successful career as a general contractor, installing irrigation lines for farmers, hauling dirt, gravel and sand for customers and other contractors. He was known for his strong work ethic, skilled craftsmanship, and willingness to lend a helping hand, earning the respect of friends, neighbors, and coworkers throughout the community.

He served in politics as a Police Juror and Street commissioner for several years in Ville Platte.

Above all else, Carroll cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who found immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love, wisdom, and quiet strength will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.

In his free time, he found peace on the water with a fishing rod in hand. Whether casting a line at sunrise or sharing stories with family and friends, fishing was more than a pastime—it was where he felt most at home.

He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, unwavering dedication to his family, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the values he instilled will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Brud is preceded in death by his parents; Jean’ and Mary Deshotel Duos; and his brother, Kirkland Duos.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Vidrine Duos of Ville Platte; his children, John David Duos (Cindy) of Alabama, Mickey Carroll Duos (Joni) of Ville Platte, Mitchel Gregory Duos (Arlene) of Woodworth and Kimberly Duos McCauley (Kenneth) of Ville Platte; his grandchildren, Britany Vidrine, Christopher Sanders, Derrick Sanders, Ross Duos, Sadie Figueiredo, Brock Duos, Brad Duos, Cody McCauley, Whitni Laborde and Kelbie McCauley; 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte.
