Funeral services for Charles Chelette will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Turkey Creek Church of Christ with Bros. Jamie Robert and Keith Deville officiating.  Burial will follow in the Addison-Johnson Cemetery in Turkey Creek.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Chelette, age 72 of Ville Platte, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte.

Charles retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 33 years of service.  He was a proud member of the UTU and BLET organizations.  He was an avid LSU sports fan and Saints fan and loved to hunt and fish. Charles' greatest love was his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Alfred and Lilli Powers Chelette; and two brothers, Daniel and Roger Dale Chelette.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Maxine Fontenot Chelette of Ville Platte; his children, Christopher Chelette of Baton Rouge, Elizabeth Ledesma (Marc) of Oakland, TN, Kelly Bednar (Rob) of Oakley, CA, and Scott Chelette (Deb) of Tyler, TX; two brothers, Sonny Chelette (Loretta) of Nebit, MS, Timothy Chelette (Teresa) of Murfreesboro, TN; three sisters, Sharon Bersuder (Gary) of Smyrna, TN, Judy Barzare (Mike) of Pineville, and Delores Jeansonne (John) of Ville Platte; his grandchildren, Joshua Chelette, Kaleb Chelette, Jacob Chelette, Tristan Chelette, Madison Bednar, Alexis Chelette, Travis Bednar; and his two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Reech.

Friends may visit on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
