CALVIN J. DUPONT, JR.
Funeral mass for Calvin Dupont will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
C.J. passed away on at this home on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:30 p.m. in Woodworth, LA after a long, brave battle with cancer, never losing hope. His attitude was always uplifting and he regarded every day as a gift.
He was born and reared in Bunkie, LA and attended Bunkie High School and Northwestern State College in Natchitoches. He has worked for many years in finance and insurance. In 1957, he and his father established Pelican State Securities Corp which remained active for almost 40 years. Thirty years prior to his retirement, he was a manufacture representative of sporting goods, covering several southern states.
C.J. was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an active member of Bunkie Bass Masters club. Golf; however was his great passion, playing several different courses with his "golfing buddies". He enjoyed reading and studying the Native American culture and has traveled out west visiting various Native American sites with his daughters and a granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Lucille Moreau Dupont.
He has left to mourn and cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 54 years, Gay Mayeux Dupont of Woodworth; his daughters, Kay Ferguson of Atlantic Beach, FL, Fay R. Dupont of Pensacola, FL, and Anna Mitchell (Mark) of Dunlap, TN; five grandchildren, Max Dupont Mitchell of Los Angeles, CA, Charlie C. Perrone of Pensacola, FL, Madison F. Mitchell of Atlanta, GA, Kristian T. Ferguson and Margot C. Ferguson of Atlantic Beach, FL; one uncle, Morris Dupont of Pascagoula, MS; and his mother-in-law, Narcille Roy Mayeux of Marksville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Dover, Ken Breaux, Charles Ernest, Jude Glorioso, Bill Smith and Richard Maillet. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Redmon, Floyd Roy, Glenn Herring, Kent Juneau and Hugh Bradley.
The family wishes to thank Drs. Howard and Christian Wold for their care and concern. Also Hospice Compassus and the many friends who came by to offer their love and support to him.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Friday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
