Betty Lemoine, age 87 of Cottonport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at home surrounded by her family.

Betty was born and raised in New Orleans and was a long-time resident of Bunkie.  She resided in Cottonport after the loss of her husband.

She worked at Council on Aging for many years.  She was also a homemaker for her husband and children.  She loved taking care of her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, dancing and playing bingo in her spare time.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Murray "Tony" Lemoine; her parents, Dorothy Plick Hebert and Merlin Arena both of New Orleans.

She is survived by her children; Catherine Lemoine, Mark Lemoine (Donna), Tammie L. Ferguson (Ricky), Sandra L. McMillian, Johnny Lemoine (Nadine) and Terry Lemoine (Ted); 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by step-sisters, Dottie Hebert Grooms and Hazel Hebert Zanca.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to All Saints Hospice for their loving care and support for caring for our mother Betty.

There will be a private funeral service held and burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
