A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Juneau will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pythian Mausoleum.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mrs. Juneau, age 87 of Bunkie, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Bayou Vista Community Care Center.

Mrs. Bernice was the owner and operator of Bernices' Sandwich Shop from 1976 until 1997 when her son Dwayne and wife Angela took over and operates till today.  She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters for 35 years, Legion of Mary and the Silver Society.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, making her family her priority.  Every holiday was her favorite, because it meant that she could cook and celebrate with all her family. She was very meticulous about having things just right for that particular holiday. It brought her much joy to have everyone under her roof; eating, laughing, loving and having a good time.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Huron J. Juneau; sons, Douglas J. Juneau, Sr. and Dwight C. Juneau; a daughter, Martha J. Carmello; her parents, West and Lisa Milligan Lacombe; and her siblings, Raymond Lacombe, Rita Baum and Viola Brasher.

Survivors include her children; Sonia J. Cravy and husband David of Alexandria, Dennis Juneau and wife Sandra of Bunkie, Darrell Juneau and wife Carolyn of Bay Hills, Jackie J. Slocum and husband Rocky of Bunkie and Dwayne Juneau and wife Angela of Bunkie; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Friends may visit on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 11:00 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
