Alex Haas
Alex Haas closed his sparkling green eyes and passed on peacefully to Heaven while surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was 66, born in Bunkie, La., on Nov. 10, 1947. He was a resident of Marietta, Ga. Alex loved life, his family and friends, his work, and his game of golf. He will be remembered as a gregarious, fun loving and kind soul. He leaves behind a powerful legacy in family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jean McDaniel Haas of Oakdale, La.; his son, "big guy" David Haas and wife Whitney, of Miami, Fla.; his daughter, "baby girl" Katherine Peters and husband William, of Savannah, Ga.; his brother, John Haas, of Baton Rouge, La.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. "Boots" Haas, who was of Bunkie, La.; and his mother, Maria "Mamacita" Elwin Haas, who was of Cuba.
Following a memorial service at Mayes Funeral Home in Marietta, Ga., on Monday, July 7, 2014 (5-8p.m.), there will be a visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home in Bunkie, La., with a rosary at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Scott Chemino, celebrant. Interment to follow at Bever Creek Cemetery of Oakdale. Pallbearers will be William Peters, David Haas, John Haas, John McDaniel, Jeff Walker and Thomas McNabb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your kind donations to The Lung Cancer Alliance.
