A Mass of Christian Burial for Albert Jeansonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Laird officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mater Dolorosa Mausoleum.  Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

Mr. Jeansonne, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 surrounded by his family.

Born on September 28, 1940 in Cottonport, Albert was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and Louisiana State University.  He dedicated his career to the insurance industry, working for National Life & Accident Insurance Company and later American General Insurance.  A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army as part of the Military Police.

Albert was a man of deep faith in God and was an active member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.  He found great joy in the outdoors, spending his time hunting, fishing and farming.  A devoted LSU football and St. Joseph's Academy softball fan, he rarely missed a game.  Known for his sweet and generous nature, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a love for life's simple pleasures especially when they included ketchup.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 35 years, Cynthia Rousseau Jeansonne; his brother, Barton Jeansonne, Jr.; his sister Shirley Hymel; his children, Chad Jeansonne (Tina), Michele Jeansonne, and Laura Garber (Michael); and his grandchildren Nicole Goden (Patrick), Sara Alexander (Travis), Ricky Kinsel (Heather), Ryan Harper (Brittany), and Phoebe Sison.  He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Angel Jeansonne, Riley Alexander, Harper Alexander, Chase Kinsel, Candace Kinsel, Tate Kinsel, Kayden Harper and Kinsley Harper; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his brothers-in-law Russell Rousseau, Jr. (Donna) and Cory Rousseau (Sherri).

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Barton Jeansonne, Sr. and Norma Moreau Jeansonne; father-in-law Russell Rousseau, Sr.; uncle and best friend Warren Moreau; sister-in-law Janice Plauche Jeansonne; daughter-in-law Karen Kay Jeansonne; grandson Randy Kinsel; and cousin and best friend Tommy Jeansonne.

Friends may visit on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a rosary and wake service at 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Plaucheville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Knight of Columbus Council No. 2142 or Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church.  Albert's memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
